Heading North in Daleville, the Appalachian Trail splits off to the left before crossing Rt. 220.

The trail here appears to go straight, but that is a heavily trodden path to a local parking lot.

Less traveled, the AT turns left.  The white blaze may be difficult to see.

If you miss this turn and wind up in the parking lot, you need to back-track a mere 300 meters to reconnect with the AT.  Alternatively, you could turn left along the highway and cross over to the AT just beyond the Pizza Hut.
