Fullhardt Knob
Here is a series of pictures explaining various turns at Fullhardt Knob.
Approaching Fullhardt Knob from the south; do you see the double blaze on the curved tree? |
The trail to the left of the tree heads up to an intersection with a fire road. |
The sign at the fire road |
The sign says to go right to the shelter; but just so you'll know, that is not the way the AT goes. |
Looking to the left down the fire road; this the AT heading North. |
It may not be easy to see the white blaze unless you are looking for it. |
To the right, the fire road leads to the shelter. |
View of the shelter |
Fortunately, blue blazes have been painted along the trail to the shelter. |
The blue blazes will help to remember this it not the AT. |
Coming back down the fire road from the shelter. |
Look for the sign and remember that you took a turn here |
Follow this young fellow if you want to go straight back South to Troutville. Go straight to continue North towards the Blue Ridge Parkway. |
